How to Apply for a Nursery Place

How to apply for a nursery place

If you are interested in applying for a place for your child, please contact the school with your child's details.

In nursery schools, priority is given to children in their final pre-school year- the children who have one year of nursery education before transferring to primary school. If undersubscribed, a nursery may take children who are below the preschool age.

In the month of December in the year prior to admission, we will hold an open morning for you to come and view the nursery and meet the staff. It is hoped application forms will be available to give out on that day.

The Open Enrolment Admissions Information booklet can be found on the Education Authority, North Eastern Region website. This gives full details about the admissions procedure and the criteria used in allocating places. It also includes information on all the Nursery Schools and Nursery Units in Primary Schools in the North Eastern Region and also provides information regarding places available in the private and voluntary sector. A single application form is used for parents to list all their preferences in order.

Application forms can also be obtained from The Education Authority's website.

Once you have filled in your application form, it must be returned to your first preference nursery setting no later than the closing date stated on the application form (usually a date around the second week in January).

You will be notified by post, (usually in April) as to whether or not you have been successful in your application to your preferred nursery setting.

To register your interest in applying for a place or to discuss any aspect of the admissions procedure, please contact the school. (Tel. No. 02890861459)
